* Packard built extraordinary automobiles from 1899 to 1958
* Mr Packard built the 1st one on a challenge to build a better car than those available.
* Later when asked why someone should buy one, he said “Ask The Man Who Owns One!”
* Early Packards built in Ohio, and then later in a revolutionary plant in Detroit.
* 1903, Packard “Old Pacific” won the race to cross the country in 61 days.
* Many Packard innovations, including the 1st steering wheel, V12 engine.
* Packard created “Gray Wolf” race car in 1903. Raced Indy 500 in 1915.
* Packard created the 1st Liberty engine in just 5 days for the U.S. Army Air Force.
* Packard cars were the quality leader over Cadillac, Lincoln and Chrysler.
* Packard introduced moderate price cars in the 30’s and tripled their sales.
* During WWII, Packard converted 100% to produce Merlin aircraft engines.
* Packard engines powered Navy PT boats, and built military trucks for the army.
* Packard fought hard to regain prestige after the war, but competition was too strong.
