This page is a review of events
planned in 1999 for the 100th Anniversary.
October 1899 - October 1999
To help organizations planning a commemorative event for this Marconi
Anniversary the QCWA is offering to act as coordinator. The goal
of this coordination is to schedule events to reduce conflicts. This
way people can enjoy as many events as possible and will not have to choose
between two events occurring at the same time.

Winlab's 10th and Marconi's 100th (October 30, 1999)
100 Years ago, on September 30, 1899 at New Jersey's Twin
Lights, an historic event occurred. On that day, Guglielmo Marconi
conducted his now-famous radio transmission to a ship at sea. 10
years ago, David Goodman founded the Wireless Information Network Laboratory
(WINLAB) at Rutgers University, dedicated to advancing the future of wireless
communications.
The anniversaries of these events are being celebrated
on September 30, 1999. During the day 6 radio communications pioneers
( F. Adachi, D. Cox, R.H. Frenkiel, L. Greenstein, R. Lucky, A. Viterbi)
will share their perspectives on the past and the future of radio communications.
Following the talks, guests will assemble at the Twin Lights Historic Park
for a Marconi re-enactment, a viewing of old radio equipment and enjoy
refreshments. Dignitaries from government, industry, and academe
have been invited to participate. The day will conclude with dinner
at Bahr's waterfront restaurant.
A $225 registration fee covers all events, refreshments,
lunch and dinner. Contact Melissa Gelfman for more details: gelfman@winlab.rutgers.edu.
