The Marconi Power Plant (9006) was converted from a building filled with generators and stream boilers to usable space, prior to WWII. The Kings College may have made this conversion between 1936-38 to create additional classrooms. Later in the 1980s the space was converted into computer rooms. Smaller modern doors have replaced the original large double utility doors. The center set of doors were converted into a pair of windows with a concrete sill (Photo No. 36). The building is sealed. Interior photos will be supplied after transfer.

Proposed Work
During Phase II restore original 1914 look (see Drawing - 9006 Rear/Front/Side
Elevations) by removing current doors and windows and replace with reproduction
of original double doors. Historic photos of the building are available
to consult in the NRHP nomination, in "Marconi Company News" pamphlets
on file in the George C. Clark "Radioanna" collection at the Smithsonian
Institution, and 1939 photos on file at Infoage donated by The King's College
students.
