8.5 Marconi Station Chief Engineer Cottage  (Building 9003) (Family House - Lt. Colonel)

Architectural Feature: Porch
 Date: 1914

Each Marconi cottage was constructed with an open porch.  The porch covered the center front door entrance and wrapped around the complete east elevation.  The porch of 9003 (Photo No. 155) is original, except electrical fixtures are missing.  The porch is in excellent condition due to its solid masonry construction.  Insect screens need to be replaced.  Brick columns support the imperial tile covered roof.

Photos: 155 and 157.

Proposed Work

The only work proposed for the porch is cleaning, painting and replacement of the missing fixtures during Phase II.  Later during Phase III old insect screen should be replaced.
