Architectural Feature: Heating Plant for 9010 & 9011
Date: 1942
This masonry structure is rectangular (Photo No. 58) and houses two boilers to heat the 'H' building complex 9010/9011. The building has a gable roof with two sheet metal ventilators. Windows are steel frames. A wide rectangular brick chimney extends from the east end of the structure. A single metal door allows access to interior stairs leading to the basement level. The 1982 installed boilers are at basement level. The boiler pipes and auxiliary equipment take up two stories (Photo No. 59).

Proposed work
During Phase I, service oil/gas boilers and evaluate the possibility
and feasibility of eliminating the central oil fired boilers. The
central system would be replaced by individual systems in each section
of the 'H' complex. The conversion would take place when funds allow.
The heating plants could then be used for tall exhibits or other special
exhibits.
