Architectural Feature: Interior - Vacuum Tube Fabrication and Test Lab.; section A.
    Date: 1942

The 60-foot by 120-foot interior of Section A does not appear to have been renovated since its original construction.  It still has WWII period walls and doors.  The space is made up of numerous small laboratory rooms, which are not easily reusable.  Sections of the ceiling sheet rock have collapsed due to water damage from frozen pipe bursts.  There are numerous holes in the walls (Photo Nos. 50 and 51).  Both the men's and women's restroom have been upgraded to accommodate persons with mobility challenges.

Photos: 50 and 51.

Proposed work

Remove interior non-bearing wall partitions to create a large open flexible purpose room during Phase V (see Drawing 9011 A/B Existing Conditions and Proposed Changes).  Repair ADA modernized restroom to serve all visitors.  Salvage vintage WWII era hardware and doors for reuse in 9010 C and D.
