Architectural Feature: Interior; Tool Crib, Shops and Offices; section D.
 Date: 1942; 1980

Section 9011D, also 60-foot by 120-foot, of the first constructed 'H' building consisted of mostly offices, a sign shop and the tool crib.  This section of 9011 has more rooms than sections B and C.  This section has three loading docks, on the north (Photo No. 56), south (Photo No. 57) and east ends of 9011.   A center hallway begins at the double fire doors from section C.  The room has pairs of wooden 6" by 6" support poles every 20' which are integrated into the hallway walls.  To the south of the hall is the tool crib and a hall to an exit door.  At the opposite side of the hall is the sign shop and electronic gauge shop.  The hallway ends in a room with a garage door to the south side.  The east end of 9011 has two rooms, modified in the 1980s, an office to the south and a large room to the north.  A set of corroded metal double door opens to a small loading dock (see Drawing 9011 C/D Existing Conditions and Proposed Changes).

Proposed work

Section 9011 D can be used nearly as is.  The metal doors need to be repaired in Phase I.  The loading dock on the east end requires concrete repair of a compatible color.  During Phase III, the tool crib can be converted to a kitchen, the sign shop and gauge shop into small group classroom space, and the end room into a lunchroom / classroom. Only four partition walls are proposed to be removed to create a large open space for lunchroom / classroom use.
