   The 2007 National Broadcasters Hall of Hall Induction was held in the Marconi Hotel.
Celeste Holm, Jane Powell, Margaret Whiting and Andy Williams were the 30th Anniversary Inductees. 
InfoAge was honored to host the legendary stars Celeste Holm and Margaret Whiting.

The Marconi Chapter 138 of the Quarter Century Wireless Association has an exhibit
of the history of Marconi in New Jersey and basic wireless technology.

INFOAGE  RECOGNIZES DAN CUMMINGS FOR EAGLE SCOUT ACHIEVEMENT!! 
    Dan Cummings has met all requirements of a recipient of Eagle Scout Award for his outstanding leadership and hard work in completlely replacing and improving the Marconi Hotel Rear Cellar entrance.   The difficult work is an exceptional contribution towards honoring W.W.II veterans and has saved this entrence structure which is part of a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

INFOAGE  RECOGNIZES JAMES YOUNG FOR EAGLE SCOUT ACHIEVEMENT!! 
    James Young has met all requirements of a recipient of Eagle Scout Award for his outstanding leadership and hard work in transforming an empty office in the Marconi Hotel into a break room.  The break room has a cut through to a conference room, a sink with hot and cold water and a refrigrator.  The complex  work is an exceptional contribution towards honoring W.W.II veterans and has improved this structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places.   It also provides a pleasant and useful room for InfoAge volunteers and guests.

We have been busy preserving the Camp Evans buildings in the National Historic District over the last few months.  We have also been digitally recording the information in the newspapers - The Signal Corps Message and the Monmouth Messages we have in our archive.
The article "Proximity Fuse Largely Due To Evans Lab Men"  from November 1945
confirmed that  the "Proximity Fuse 'Born' Here in Part".
April 30, 2007 The Landmark Volunteers made a two week visit to Camp Evans.   They really made a difference.

Two issues of Popular Science featured the captured Wurztburg Riese German radar unit brought to Camp Evans in 1947.  The unit was still mounted on a German rail car.  The unit was reworked into an advanced satellite tracking antenna and placed on a three story steel pedistal erected by Park Iron and Steel of Neptune City at the Project Diana site.  Click on the covers to see the photos and details.

  INFOAGE  RECOGNIZES JEFF SEIDEL FOR EAGLE SCOUT ACHIEVEMENT!! - 
Jeff Seidel has met all requirements of a recipient of Eagle Scout Award for his outstanding leadership and hard work in replacing the roof of the Cold-War era security entrance.  Known as building 9093, it had roof leaks and looked in very poor condition.  The difficult work is an exceptional contribution towards honoring W.W.II veterans and has saved this structure.

     This was due to the dedication and talent of Judy and Nels Warren.  Affectionately titled our Fright Mistress and Fright Master.  A multitude of InfoAge members and friends helped get the site ready for our honored ghouls and the 1600 guests.

The Complete Round of Activities - May 24, 2005 - 10 AM Project Diana / TIROS site plus Marconi Station Engineer's Cottage. InfoAge promotes another successful event with NSC Science Van visit as well as science/electronic presentations by Ocean/Monmouth Amateur Radio Club, NJ Antique Radio Club, and InfoAge volunteers - for school students, museum members, and interested public visitors alike! This "sneak peek" event is another sign of new life on the Camp Evans/Marconi site as development moves forward towards a museum highlighting the history of  technology and the camp's important role in U.S. history and security.

Many pioneering papers have originated from Camp Evans and many significant persons have worked there during the past 90 years. 
This pioneering paper provided an explanation of what later became known as LED's, or light emitting diodes.
Our optical networks depend on LEDs.
After leaving Camp Evans Dr. Levovec would be recognized as a co-inventor of the integrated circuit. 
Dr. Accardo would join MIT and in 2002 the Emperor of Japan formally proclaimed Carl Accardo, a National Treasure of the Empire!

In the early days of America's space research, facilities at Camp Evans helped test satellite designs and satellite component functions in special chambers that subjected the test items to the stress of the vacuum of space.  Goal: find material problems before you launch electronics into space.

The basic AN/TPS-3 system was developed at Camp Evans to protect the Panama Canal. 
Later it was realized this excellent equipment could be modified to provide radar 
protection for landing beaches from planes and mortars.

     RADAR ON 50 CENTIMETERS

     This little radar would see action in WWII and Korea.

A TALE OF TWO CRISES, by Dr. Zahl, tells the history of the development 
of this excellent light-weight radar and how it was used in the war.

Camp Evans was the home of the U.S. Army's  first electronic countermeasures group. 
They worked in the attic of the Marconi hotel. 
This 1946 article gives an overview of all the countermeasures needed to defeat the Axis powers. 
Camp Evans played a roll in many of these electronic tricks.

As a secure facility in WWI and WWII the military secrets of the
U.S. Naval Wireless Station at Belmar and Camp Evans Signal Laboratory needed to be protected.
We added a page on the Guards of Camp Evans.
October 20, 2003 After the end of WWII talented German scientists were brought to the United States in "Project Paperclip".
While the V-2 rocket scientists went to White Sands, the radar and 
communications engineers went to Camp Evans and Fort Monmouth.
