HAUNTED HOTEL - 2008
AN OUTSTANDING SUCCESS!!
HH-Poster

Fright Master Nels and Fright Mistress Judy Warren raised the evil spirits of Camp Evans. They are prepared a family friendly Halloween experience inside the haunted Marconi Hotel for kids and parents. The $10 donation will be used to help InfoAge continue preserving historic Camp Evans.

The fright actors were InfoAge volunteers, members of the Shore Players, the Wall National Thespian Honor Society members and the Wall H.S. ROTC.  The Glendola FD ladies auxiliary had refreshments available.

To set your mood and to allow the spirits to determine what scares you your fright filled walk began in the long dark hotel hallway.  Mr. Allen Shields and the Shore Players prepared a zombie wedding and you are an invited quest.  One of the four coffins from Damiano Funeral Home of Long Branch could be just your size.

Back for his third year was Mike Ruane, the body parts cook.  He prepared the meal for the blood feast in the Marconi dining room.   Get too close to the cook and you will join in the feast as fresh cut limb stew.

Those who made it past the cook could leave the hotel to cross the bridge of no return into the haunted forest.  Fright Mistress Judy and Ms. Laura Parker have filled the forest with demonic creatures that are waiting to meet you.   Some have not eaten in a while…

Those who survived the walk through the forest entered the masterwork of fright master Nels Warren, Dr. Kronenberg’s estate.    The eminent nuclear scientist was known for talking his work home with him.   His house and home lab had a special glow, the Cobalt-60 glow.   The radiation had interesting effects upon his pets and neighbors.   The renowned doctor will share nuclear safety tips with you.

A room or two down the hall Dan and Terry Lieb will show you the results of their experiment gone terribly wrong.   So wrong, a lady has lost her head.

The Iranians have nothing on Jeff Harshman who has assembled a nuclear pile.  It is about to go critical.  The massive radiation from the pile is destroying the Alien surveillance room. Dan Jacobs and Kyle Bauter have captured aliens who where attracted to Camp Evans by the radar signals from Project Diana.   You need to get through before the nuclear fallout contaminates you.

Bret Harshman and Chrissy Neaves created an insane asylum for the fallout victims.  Most of the victims are deluded that the government can read their brain waves.

Also back for their third year are the mad electrical scientists from the NJ Antique Radio Club.  Ray Chase and friends have a few thousand volts ready to share with you.  Ready for a little shock therapy?

If you do not go insane from the radiation, you can take the hay ride to the zombie encounter.
Rich Milko has InfoAge volunteers and members of the Wall ROTC lined up to make the short ride memorable.  A classic funeral hearse from Lakewood Funeral home is waiting and looking for victims.

For those who are too young or too timid to explore the myths of Camp Evans by walking the haunted hotel, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Ricciardi with the support of their family host the Quarter Century Wireless Association’s special “Casper’s House”.  A gentle placeg waiting to calm the timid ones.

    Thank you:

Thanks to community support the third InfoAge Haunted Hotel raised nearly $24,000.  It is impressive how this grassroots volunteer effort to save this historic site and use it as a community science education center and memorial is picking up momentum.  Much credit is due to the citizens of Wall and the Township Committees who have fostered this effort.

Over 2,500 persons visited Camp Evans and heard the InfoAge mission as well as enjoyed the spirits of the haunted hotel and experienced the Haunted Hayride.

Fright Master Nels and Fright Mistress Judy Warren of West Long Branch created a family friendly Halloween experience inside the haunted Marconi Hotel and six other buildings for kids and parents.  Over 1700 hours of volunteer time was given to help make this event successful.

The fright actors were InfoAge volunteers, members of the Shore Players, the Wall National Thespian Honor Society members, the Wall H.S. ROTC, Members of the Military Technology Museum of New Jersey, Members of the NJ Antique Radio Club, the Ocean-Monmouth Amateur Radio Club, the Quarter Century Wireless Association, and the New Jersey Historic Divers Association.   The Glendola FD ladies auxiliary served refreshments.

Thanks go to many.  Mr. Allen Shields and the Shore Players prepared the zombie wedding.   Damiano’s Funeral Home of Long Branch loaned caskets, empty of course, to the wedding party.

Back for his third year was Mike Ruane, the body parts cook.  His spirited show caused more than one brave lad to leave a wet spot on the carpet in the Marconi dining room.  Fright Mistress Judy created a haunted forest.  Ms. Laura Parker and the Wall Thespians were the creatures who filled a forest with demonic creatures.

The masterwork of the haunted hotel, Dr. Kronenberg’s mansion, was built by fright master Nels Warren,   Steve Maggs was one of the players who took the roll of the eminent nuclear scientist who was known for taking his glowing work home with him

Dan and Terry Lieb of the New Jersey Historic Divers Association created the illusion of the live lady with a severed head.   Jeff Harshman assembled a nuclear pile that went critical.  The Alien surveillance room was the work of Dan Jacobs and Kyle Bauter.  The captured aliens were attracted to Camp Evans by the radar signals from Project Diana.

Bret Harshman and Chrissy Neaves created the insane asylum for radiation victims.   Also back for their third year were the mad electrical scientists from the NJ Antique Radio Club.  Ray Chase, Steve Goulert, Dave Snellman, Harry Klancer and friends had a few thousand volts ready to share with visitors.

Rich Milko created the hay ride to the zombie encounter.  InfoAge volunteers and members of the Wall ROTC make the ride memorable.  A classic funeral hearse from Lakewood Funeral home was donated to InfoAge for effect.

For those who were too young or too timid to explore the myths of Camp Evans by walking the haunted hotel, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Ricciardi and family hosted the Quarter Century Wireless Association’s special “Casper’s House”.

We are grateful to the Coast Star for making InfoAge a part of their Halloween contest and for the years of support.   InfoAge and the saving of Camp Evans shows what a dedicated community can do when it cared about its future as well as its past.
