At last Wednesday's meeting of the Wall Township Committee, a representative from Verizon presented a $5,000 check to the InfoAge Science and History Learning Center.

John Szeliga, director of public policy for Verizon, and president of the Belmar Borough Council, attended the Dec. 13 meeting to give the money to Fred Carl, Director of InfoAge, which will go toward the science enrichment through telepathy program that InfoAge will be initiating in the near future.

Mr. Szeliga told the township committee they have done "an admirable job" in the preservation of Camp Evans and the creation of the learning center. "I'd just like to congratulate everyone involved," he added.

Mr. Szeliga then commended Mr. Carl and the other volunteers for their hard work.

"Wall Township is so lucky and blessed to have you as a resident Fred," said Mr. Szeliga.

Mr. Carl thanked Verizon and said he hoped that this was the start of a long-term relationship between Verizon and InfoAge.

"Sometimes I feel like the poster boy, but it's all of us that have done this," Mr. Carl said to the committee and the InfoAge volunteers in the audience.

Mayor Burne also thanked Verizon and Mr. Carl for "all his work" at InfoAge.

The committee approved a resolution to award a contract for improvements to Monmouth Boulevard to Montone Construction of Holmdel.

A resolution was passed awarding a contract for the purchase of a sanitation truck for the township. The lowest bid was for $152,299 from Robert H. Hoover & Sons, Inc.
