At last
Wednesday's
meeting of the Wall Township Committee, a representative from Verizon presented
a $5,000 check to the InfoAge Science and History Learning
Center. John Szeliga, director of public policy for Verizon, and president of
the Belmar Borough Council, attended
the Dec. 13 meeting to give
the money to Fred Carl, Director
of InfoAge, which will go toward
the science enrichment through telepathy program that InfoAge will be initiating in the near
future. Mr. Szeliga told the township committee they have done "an admirable job" in the preservation of Camp Evans and the creation of
the learning center. "I'd just like to congratulate everyone involved,"
he added. Mr.
Szeliga then
commended Mr. Carl and
the other
volunteers for their hard work. "Wall Township is so lucky and blessed to have you as a resident Fred,"
said Mr. Szeliga. Mr. Carl
thanked
Verizon and said he hoped
that this
was the start of a long-term relationship between Verizon and
InfoAge. "Sometimes
I feel
like the poster boy, but
it's all of
us that have done this,"
Mr.
Carl said to the committee and the InfoAge volunteers in the
audience. Mayor
Burne also
thanked Verizon and Mr. Carl for "all his work" at InfoAge. The
committee approved an ordinance for the acquisition of |
