This document was prepared as part of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) procedures.   It is the first document to state the important roll the Belmar Marconi Station and later Camp Evans played in world communications, WW, WW2, computer and electronic warfare development and their application.  The history presented here by Mark Swanson and Mary Beth Reed motivated us to work to preserve Camp Evans.  It recommended selected buildings within Camp Evans for National Historic Register status.  We at InfoAge took the recommendation a little further and applied to the New Jersey State Historic Review Board to establish a 37-acre historic district.

On May 5, 2000 the State of NJ approved the application.  As the Army refused to process the application we had to file a protest to the Keeper of the National Register again the Army federal preservation officier.  Finally, Camp Evans was added to the National Register in March of 2002.    Mark Swanson sent us all his research notes and photocopies of documents which we have on file in our archives.   Thank you, Mark!
