Two members of the InfoAge board of directors presented the Township Committee with complimentary books detailing the history of Wall’s Camp Evans site at Wednesday’s regular meeting.
Tom Gagliano and Robert Giordano presented a copy of “Camp Evans – The Untold Story” to each member of the committee in honor of the panel’s historic and ongoing support of the decommissioned military installation on Marconi Road.
“The significance of the partnership that InfoAge has with Wall Township and the tremendous support that the Township Committee has given to the facility, we think, deserves special recognition,’’ Giordano said.
The book, which is being sold as a fundraiser through the science and history museum’s website, details 56 years of the former Army site where hand-held radar was one among myriad inventions developed before its closure in 1997.
The book spans the years between 1941-1997, covering many of the technological programs developed at the former Army camp, Giordano said.
“The majority of the electronics that was developed for the whole Army was developed at Fort Monmouth – the majority of that having its birth, if you will, at Camp Evans,’’ Giordano said.
The book is available through the InfoAge website for $49. Proceeds go to support the museum and its programs.
