Young & Rubicam Inc.

1995 Communicator's Award

Young and Rubicam, Inc. will be recognized for it's longevity and major contributions to the history of broadcasting tonight as they are inducted into the National Broadcaster's Hall of Fame with the first "Communicator's Award". This award was created to pay tribute to a company that has contributed extensively to the broadcast medium. Since their inception, initially within the radio talk format, and now professionally produced in their entirety, commercials have forever changed the face of broadcasting. Many of the commercials are more memorable than the programs themselves.
Founded in 1925, Y&R has an illustrious history of creating awardwinning radio and television commercials along with print ads and other extensive creative services. Many of their clients have remained with Y & R over the years and their current roster is a who's who in the advertising community. Clients include Jello, Holiday Inn Worldwide, Colgate-Palmolive, Metropolitan Life Insurance, Dr. Pepper, Showtime Networks, Chevron, SunSweet, AT&T Communications, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Xerox, Heinz and many others.
They have received countless honors for their celebrity endorsements including Bill Cosby in the now infamous and long running Jello commercials which began with the "Fat Albert" spots. If something works, why fix it? "Albert" will soon reappear in a new series of spots for Jello through the creative magic of our first Communicator Award inductee.
