Monty's American broadcasting career began forty years ago, when the young entertainer left his native Canada to work on NBC's radio show, "Monitor", in New York. His second package, the blockbuster known as "Let's Make a Deal" ran from 1963 to 1986, and again from 1990 to 1991. In between, he packaged and sold "Split Second" which was in syndication from 1986 to 1987.
Monty has headlined at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas, starred in his own variety specials on ABC and has made special appearances on numerous television programs, including the CBS hit "Love and War", which featured his daughter, Tony Award-winning actress Joanna Gleason.
His enormous success has made it possible for him to travel extensively to speak on behalf of countless charities. Monty is currently on the Boards of many organizations, and has won over 500 awards and several honorary doctorate degrees. In 1975, the world's largest children's charity, Variety Clubs International, elected Monty as President, and in 1981 he was awarded the title of International Chairman.
