COLONEL JIMMIE KING
Colonel Jimmie King is the Deputy Commander of the
Research and Development Center, U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command.
Born in Dancy, Alabama, Colonel King was educated in local schools and
enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1946. After a two year tour of duty, he
entered Kansas State University where he was commissioned a second lieutenant
through the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps.
During his career, Colonel King has had duty assignments
as the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Electronics with
Headquarters, U.S. Army, Europe and Seventh Army, Heidelberg, Germany;
Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Fifth Signal Command, Worms, Germany;
Brigade Commander, Fort Gordon, Georgia; Director of Training, U.S. Army
Signal School and Center; Director of Production, Defense Contract Administration
Services Region, San Francisco, California; Chief of the Aircraft Systems
Office, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics; Commanding Officer
of the 224th Avionics Battalion (Radio Research), Vietnam, and the Avionics
Officer, U.S. Army, Vietnam. He has had two previous duty assignments here
at Fort Monmouth with the Electronics Command as the Cheyenne Aviation
Electronics Systems Manager and as the Aviation Commander at the Monmouth
County Airport.
Colonel King wears the Legion of Merit with two
Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters,
Joint Service Commendation Medal and the Master Army Aviation Badge.
Colonel King is married to the former Lenister Tabbs
of Vallejo, California. They have three children; Jimmie Dennis, West Point
class of 1974 and daughters Valerie and Marilyn.
