This photo was one of a number of photos taken at Camp Evans on Aug. 9, 1945 to prepare for the
public announce of the secret of radar.  To our knowledge this photo was not published.  The photo
was purchased by Mr. Mike Blom from a collection of photos offered on ebay as the the estate of a
Washington, D.C. reporter was sold.   Mike kindly sent us a high quality scan of the photo and text
on the back.   Mike, Thank you.

RADAR SECRECTS REVEALED

BELMAR, N.J. -- FOR THE FIRST TIME, THE RADAR EQUIPMENT, WHICH HAS PERFORMED SO

BRILLIANTLY FOR THE ALLIES IN ALL PHASES OF WARFARE, HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED TO THE

PUBLIC, AND MANY OF ITS SECRETS REVEALED.  HERE, AT CAMP EVANS, BELMAR, N.J., THE

OPERATION OF ANTI-AIRCRAFT SET SCR-268 WAS EXPLAINED TO THE PRESS.  MOUNTED ON

ELEVATED SEATS ATOP THE MOBILE UNIT, WITH THE HUGH ANTENNAS STRETCHING OUT ON

EITHER SIDE OF THEM, THESE THREE SOLDIERS MANUEVER THE MACHINE AS THEY WOULD IF AN

ENEMY PLANE WERE IN THE VIVINITY.  CPL. DAVID WELLER, DAYTON, O.H., (LEFT) IS AT

THE RANGE SCOPE; T/STG, JACK KAPLAN, BRONX, N.Y.. OPERATES THE HORIZONTAL POSITION

SCOPE; AND S/SGT, VICTOR KOMOW (RIGHT), BROOKLYN, N.Y., IS AT THE VERTICAL POSITION

SCOPE.  THE PLANE IS CAUGHT AND HELD BETWEEN THE HORIZONTAL AND VETICAL BEAMS.  ON

THE GROUND AT EXTREME LEFT SGT. MAXON SAYRE, WATERFORD, CALIF., OPERATES THE KEYER
